an advice column for healing
This is a grand experiment. Let's see how it goes, shall we?
Why an Advice Column?
I genuinely like helping people. I have no idea why, but I love talking to people, hearing their stories, and then helping them however I can towards their happy ending.
I’ve studied creative writing for years, but it was only recently that I realized how healing the written word can be.
One source of inspiration was the Dear Sugar column, penned by Cheryl Strayed (author of the bestselling memoir, Wild). Cheryl not only gave free advice, she created a community of healing. The best example of this was a column featuring a letter written by a grieving father, who lost his son in a car accident. 5 years later, he just couldn’t find a way to move on, or even think of forgiving the person who took his son away from him.
I was moved to tears by his openness, and how honestly he shared his struggle, without an ounce of self-pity. Cheryl wrote an amazingly loving response, but I was even more moved by the flood of comments from readers that came after.[http://therumpus.net/2011/07/dear-sugar-the-rumpus-advice-column-78-the-obliterated-place/]
I’m hoping that by offering my Tarot readings for free in the form of an advice column, I can heal more than just the person asking the question. If I can help just one person, and encourage another to send a stranger their love and well wishes, then it’s worth it.
This world is full of harsh edges and negative news. I want to put some light back into it.
I use Tarot cards to help get a clearer picture of what's going on in your life before giving my best advice. I find the Tarot cards can provide useful insight into the underlying causes and nuances of a situation. Let me give you an example of how it works:
On first glance, I might hear Problem A and think the solution is B. Without the Tarot cards, I would tell you to do B, and have a nice day.
But the Tarot cards allow me to look more deeply into a situation. With the Tarot, I might discover that situation A is deeply influenced by your relationship to person C, your current career which is on track D but you'd really like it to be on track E, your mother who thinks that you should really F, and your partner who is tired of hearing you complain and wants G and just get on with it.
A Tarot reading can uncover the real issues and the dynamics of the situation, while steering the advice to your highest good.

All inquiries submitted to this column will be considered for publication. If you are chosen, your letter will be published, and it will always be anonymous.
I will choose only those questions that I feel that I and the Tarot are equipped to answer. I reserve the right to refuse this service for any reason.
The best questions to ask the Tarot are not true/false questions, or even "when" questions, but are those questions that invite enlightenment into a particular situation, relationship or future decision.
